Dear Residents and Staff,

BRCGA has continued to keep the safety and wellness of all tenants, employees, and vendor partners at the forefront while facing the ongoing national COVID-19 pandemic. As the virus continues to evolve and create splinter variants, BRCGA continues to implement procedures that support and promote the highest standards for health and wellness at all communities. BRCGA must continue to remain diligent in the presence of this illness and to protect what is most precious to the BRCGA ministry…you.

The majority of residents and staff have been vaccinated, creating herd immunity. BRCGA communities are beginning to plan for booster shot implementation. For individuals that have been fully vaccinated, to reduce the risk of being infected with the Delta/other variants and possibly spreading it to others, the Center for Disease Control suggests wearing a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission or within confined spaces. You might choose to wear a mask regardless of the level of transmission if you have a weakened immune system or if, because of age risk or an underlying medical condition, there is an increased risk of illness. CDC also states that if a member of your household has a weakened immune system or is unvaccinated, those individuals are increased risk for severe disease.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) prevents the BRCGA staff from disclosing the health information of any resident or employee to residents.  Some residents have been asking employees if they have been vaccinated. Employees are not obligated to give information about their health, including vaccination status, to residents. Asking them to do so is an invasion of privacy, so please refrain from asking.

Based upon the updated information that has been received from the CDC and local health officials, Baptist Retirement Communities has created the following guidelines as listed below:

Employees no longer are required to wear masks, unless requested by tenant while performing in-unit service.

Internal Groups Gatherings BRCGA Internal group gatherings are permitted. Masks are strongly encouraged. Please continue to social distance no less than 6 feet apart. All participants are required to adhere to cough/sneeze etiquette and follow proper handwashing procedures while in BRCGA public spaces.

Outdoor Activities

All tenants and staff may now participate in outdoor work, activities, and recreation without a mask, except in certain crowded settings and venues. Masks are strongly suggested if in contact with others for more than 15 minutes and if not social distanced. It is strongly encouraged to social distance a minimum of 6 feet. Those that feel more comfortable wearing a mask are welcomed to do so.

Apartment Tours have resumed at all properties. All guests are required to complete health screening, including temperature check, and to social distance when interacting with any tenant or staff member. Masks are required for any outside guests. Any guests experiencing any signs of illness or fever will be asked to reschedule their visit.

On-site, Internal Vendor Work Internal vendor work has resumed with specific guidelines.  All vendors are required to social distance from any tenant or staff member during time of on-site, internal visit. Masks are required for all vendors perform service while inside BRCGA buildings. Any vendors experiencing any signs of illness or fever will be asked to reschedule their visit. As in the past, the vendor company must provide BRCGA with a written safety protocol that addresses COVID-19.

Unvaccinated Tenants that have traveled abroad and ALL New Move-Ins

Due to the day-to-day interaction between staff and tenants, all Unvaccinated Tenants that have traveled abroad -OR- New Move-In tenants must adhere to one of the following:

  • Submit a negative COVID test within the past 24 hours.
  • New Move-Ins may submit proof of completed COVID vaccination (two full weeks after final vaccination shot)
  • Follow CDC required guidelines

Outside Guests, Outside Volunteers, and BRCGA Staff

All Guest, volunteers, and BRCGA staff are required to complete health screening, including temperature check, and to social distance when interacting with any tenant or staff member. Masks are required during the entirety of visit and required through public spaces, unless outside and social distancing of 6 feet minimum can be implemented. Social distancing and all COVID safety precautions will continue to be required while on BRCGA properties. Any guest, volunteer, or staff member that shows signs of illness or have a fever, are required to reschedule their visit. Any signs of illness may result in rescheduling or cancelling of events and is the sole decision of Executive Management. This will remain in effect until BRCGA reassesses the COVID situation.

Palmetto Park Dining Room
Due to the increase of Delta variant outbreaks, the Palmetto Park Dining Room is temporarily closed for service in the main dining room. All meals will continue to be delivered until further notice. There are many public spaces within the community for any tenants who choose to socialize. Please continue to take all necessary precautions to safeguard against the spread of COVID-19 throughout the community.

Off-Campus Trips
All off-campus trips on BRCGA buses and/or vans are temporarily discontinued until further notice.

Thank you for your willingness to adhere to the updated BRCGA guidelines. Please continue to do your best in adhering to the Mask/Glove Protection, Handwashing Procedures, and Cough/Sneeze Etiquette that staff and residents were initially trained on until further notice. Your collective participation in the BRCGA guidelines, continued support, gracious attitude, and prayers during this unprecedented season in our nation’s history is invaluable. May we continue to be vigilant in prayer and steadfastness as we strive towards protecting the BRCGA communities.

May God Continue to Bless and Protect each of you,

Sharalene Roper
